Correlation between objective and subjective assessment of noise barriers

چکیده
Abstract There are several international standards that define the way to evaluate attenuation capacity of noise reducing devices, by single-number quantities representing airborne sound insulation and insertion loss. These two single-value ratings quality performance acoustic barriers, former being related intrinsic latter both extrinsic characteristics devices. However, not many studies can be found on whether these objective parameters correlate perception annoyance reduction. The aim present work is analyze adequacy indicate comparing their values with For this purpose, ninety individuals different nationalities (Spanish Portuguese) were asked rate perceived reduction in a listening experimental test, which they exposed, under controlled conditions, environmental noises screened stimuli simulated audio filters. obtained results show high correlation between subjective perception, better observed for loss parameter than rating. Furthermore, significant differences depending gender nationality respondents. results, from ongoing research work, may great interest future barriers design.

Correlation between Objective and Subjective Assessment of Nasal Patency
Introduction: This study was performed to evaluate the correlation between the objective and subjective sensation of nasal patency, assessed through a validated questionnaire, the Italian version of the NOSE scale, and the rhinomanometric results in a large cohort of patients complaining about nasal obstruction. Materials and Methods: Data was obtained from a total of 233 adult patients, ...

متن کاملNoise effect on fatigue: correlation between the subjective and objective indicators.
Introduction: Fatigue is the exhaustion of the body or spirit that can be caused by stress, excessive work, drug use, or physical or mental illness. Fatigue is a factor in reducing productivity and incidents. Therefore, measuring is important. The aim of this study was to determine the fatigue measurement measurements based on objective and objective indices. Materials and Methods: A cross-s...
متن کاملCorrelation between Objective and Subjective Assessment of Nasal Patency
The correlation between the subjective sensation of nasal patency and nasal resistance (NR) to airflow was examined in a large population. The subjective estimation was assessed by a visual analogue scale and the NR by active anterior rhinomanometry in 158 subjects. Evaluation and statistical analysis--including correlation and regression analysis--were computerized. A statistically significant...
متن کاملAssessment of nasal obstruction: correlation between subjective and objective techniques.
BACKGROUND Nasal sensation of airflow describes the perception of the passage of air through the nose. Nasal obstruction can be assessed using subjective techniques (symptom scores and visual analogue scales [VAS]) and objective techniques (anterior rhinomanometry [RMN], acoustic rhinometry [AR], and peak nasal inspiratory flow [PNIF]). Few studies have evaluated the correlation between these t...
